Special Needs Computer Games

Special Needs LEVELGAMES games are designed to be widely accessible for players who have Cerebral Palsy, Muscular Dystrophy, Spinal Injury, Head Injury or other physical disabilities .

Intellikeys, Unicorn Keyboard, Concept Keyboard, Mini Keyboards, and other assistive devices will be tested with LEVELGAMES. Potentially speech recognition programs such as Dragon Dictate and Kurzweil Voice could also be used.

LEVELGAMES do not provide direct support for assistive access but the major game functions are available through keystrokes. These keystrokes can come from expanded keyboards (eg. Intellikeys) and other windows compatible alternative accessing devices.

eg.

The "Alien Invasion" game includes a range of control methods:

1. Use the cursor keys to move the "layer ship" and the CTRL key or SPACEBAR to fire.

2. Position the "player ship" using the number keys (1-9) and fire using the space bar.

In addition to the traditional joystick, mouse, and keyboard controls, the player's spaceship can also be positioned by pressing one of the number keys (1-9). Alternative accessing devices can also send keystrokes to control the game.
